New projects

Since rekindling my love of cross stitch recently I'll have to admit I went on a bit of a splurge. Some of items I've ordered are some beautiful kits and auto ships from Lizzie Kate and County Cottage Needleworks.

This mystery sampler called Holly & Hearts is from Lizzie Kate and is released in 3 parts. I was late to sign up for this so Part 1 & 2 have been shipped in a bundle which I'm waiting on eagerly. I've only recently started to appreciate the design elements of samplers so I'm keen to start this.

Next is a 9 part design from Country Cottage Needleworks called frosty forest. I've opted to stitch this as one big design but it can be stitched as 9 separate items. Starts November so I have a little bit of a wait. This project promises to be adorable when complete.

I sadly also caved and signed up to Crazy Annie's Stitchin Mirabilia Autoship. Basically every month when a new Mirabilia chart is released I'll automatically receive it. Also included optional embellishment packs for each chart. I think I'm set for a year now chart wise. Just need more fabric!

Ella Mockups

In my count down to receiving the new Mirabilia chart Ella, I've been doing my preparations. eg. mockups on my fabrics. These are the 3 fabrics I received from Colour Cascade yesterday with a finished Ella superimposed over it. It's definitely looking like Moon Shadow is the winner. As gorgeous as Raspberry Beret is, it does wash out the patterns burgundy roses on her shoulder and hip.

Now back to stitching my Mermaids of the Deep Blue!

Fabric Arrival!

Just received this morning my fabric order from Colour Cascade Fabrics. These are truely gorgeous coloured fabrics that have hand dyed here in Western Australia by Tammy. My order consisted of my favourite 32ct Opal Belfast Linen and included 2 of her new colours Moon Shadow, Secret Journey and Raspberry Beret. you can order these from her website here: http://www.colourcascadefabrics.com.au/

Moon Shadow and Raspberry Beret are currently in my consideration list for Stitching Mirabilia Designs new Chart Ella on. Will do a floss toss soon to see which one wins! Secret Journey might just end up being used for one of Mirabilia's mermaid designs. Its hard not to try and start stitching a new project on them right now but I am being good!

Mermaids of the Deep Blue Ver. 1

I wanted to post a quick WIP of the Mirabilia Designs Chart I've been working on for the last 3 weeks. This is Mermaids of the Deep Blue MD85 and it is my first Mirabilia I've worked on. These designs are gorgeous in person as they are stitched with beautiful sparkly threads and beads.

As this is my first I'm stitching her as recommended using the default thread colours, fabric and beads. Stitched 2 over 2. Fabric is Zweigart Amsterdam Blue 32ct Belfast* Linen. *The fact the linen is called Belfast means that the fabric is 32ct

The Beginnings

I've never been much of a blogger but I've bit the bullet and decided to create a blog so I can share my craft and cross stitch projects with friends, family and whoever else that is curious. I'm hoping by posting regular updates on my WIPs I can keep my momentum and finish more projects than letting them languish and become forgotten.
